Hamburg Cove is actually a part of the Eight Mile River which flows southward eight miles downstream through the Cove and into the Connecticut River.  Hamburg Cove is really two coves, the Inner Cove where Cove Landing is located, and the Outer Cove where one of the most charming and protected anchorages in all of New England welcomes mariners from far and near.   The entrance to Hamburg Outer Cove is about seven and a half miles above the Saybrook breakwater off Long Island Sound. US Coast Guard makers located directly across from Brockway Island about one mile past Essex Village clearly identify the beginning of the channel into the Outer Cove. Mariners should consult local charts for markers into the Inner Cove, and visitors are advised to pick up the green rental buoys.   Located midway between Boston and New York, and just one hour south of Hartford, Connecticut, Cove Landing is right off Route 156 approximately five miles north of Interstate 95.

South from Hartford, Connecticut.  Take Interstate 91 South to Route 9 South - Middletown/Old Saybrook.  Follow Route 9 through Middletown, past Essex to Old Saybrook and get onto Interstate 95 North.  Cross the Connecticut River, staying in the right hand lane and get off onto Exit 70.  Make a left at the bottom of the exit, go under the highway through two lights, then proceed up Route 156 for five miles.  Cove Landing Marine is on the left, just past the sign marking Hamburg, Connecticut. Look for the Cove Landing anchor.

Services

From New York.  Take Interstate 95 North past New Haven and continue North past Old Saybrook and cross  the Connecticut River.  Stay in the right hand lane and get off onto Exit 70.  Make a left at the bottom of the exit, go under the highway through two lights, then proceed up Route 156 for five miles.  Cove Landing Marine is on the left, just past the sign marking Hamburg, Connecticut.  Look for the Cove Landing anchor.

From Boston.  Take the best route to Providence, Rhode Island then get onto Interstate 95 South to Connecticut.  Go past New London to Old Lyme Exit 70.  Go straight through the light at the bottom of the exit, through the next light to another light where the road ends.  Take a right onto Route 156 and proceed north for five miles.  Cove Landing Marine is on the left, just past the sign marking Hamburg, Connecticut.  Look for the Cove Landing anchor.
